The Laboratory of Building Materials is one of the main Laboratories that have been operating since the establishment of the Polytechnic School. Provides theoretical and practical training to the students of the Department of Civil Engineering and to the postgraduate students of the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program in the Protection, Preservation, and Restoration of Cultural Monuments. Over the last twenty years, the Laboratory has developed significant research activity that mainly concerns two research fields/areas: Applied Research for the promotion of new materials in the production and utilization of industrial by-products in construction, for the benefit of saving natural resources and energy, protecting of environment and the construction economy. Research for the analysis of the historical materials of the monumental heritage and the maintenance and fixing of buildings with compatible materials.
